Information Campaign at ISU UMB
Karen Contreras Lisperguer, National President of ISU Norway, January 31st 2011
2011 is starting with elections of new officers at the General Assemblies of many of the local branches of the International Students’ Union of Norway (ISU). It is winter, it is dark and cold in Norway but the International Students are actives and they do not stop working for the benefits of all their fellow students and General Assemblies are taking place!
During the Leadership Meeting III-2010 the leaders of the local branches of the ISU gathered in Oslo learned and discussed about the student political system in Norway and have workshop about leadership, lobby and the student democracies with Ørjan Arntzen, the Vice President of NSO (The larger organization of Norwegian students in Norway), and the International officer of the NSO, Julie Ness. The leaders ended up taking a resolution that mandates the National Board of the ISU to give support/guidance before and during the General Assembly of the local branches.
Karen Contreras Lisperguer (National President of ISU Norway), Julian Valentin Michel (PR Officer ISU UMB)
and Emmi Suonperä (Social Officer ISU UMB) and an international student asking for information.
The National Board of the ISU works according to the democratic decisions taken inside the organization and today the National President, Karen Contreras Lisperguer, and the First vice President, John Ganyo, together with a representative of the ISU UiO, Marija Cabuskina who is editor in chief of “The Monthly Moose” visited ISU UMB, our local branch at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås in order to support their information campaign in order to inform the students about their General Assembly that will take place on the 2nd. of February 2011.
Today I talked to international students and invite them to participate at the General Assembly, we shared a nice moment warming the day of the students with coffee or tea and I enjoy the hospitality of ISU UMB.
An election without information is no democracy!
I am looking forward to meet the international students at ÅS again!
